Mother's day is on the way and it's that time of year to show just how much we care! While London has plenty of the same old tried and tested activities. There's something a bit stale about doing the same river walks and Sunday lunches.
So if you're looking for an idea that's a little different, why not treat her to something creative? Across the capital are four Pottery Cafe studios offering a more hands-on activity for Mothering Sunday!

The quirky bistros provides a wide selection of kitchenware for you to design yourself! You and mum will be spoiled for choice when choosing from the following items. As you um and ah on what to colour, you may want to think about how you'll paint it and what colours you need. When I visited, I was advised that that colours appear different after they're fired. So it's worth keeping this in mind.
Plates
Cups and mugs
Jugs
Pots and jars
Butter dish
Tea pots
Soap dish
Egg cup
Tiles
Ceramic shapes including:
Cup cake
Pirate skull
Piggy bank
Dragon
Cat
Gekko
Once painted and paid for, Studio Assistants will take your freshly coated items and put them in a queue to be fired. For me, the process takes around a week. Although this is a bit of a waiting game, it's still worth it just to take home a special keep sake.

This activity is a great choice to get the creative juices flowing and treat mum to a good old fashioned weekend cuppa! The atmosphere is very friendly and relaxed, which goes hand-in-hand with such a therapeutic past-time.
I find the selection of delicious cakes aren't too bad as well! It's always nice to have a nibble on the side while you paint.
If you ask me, the souvenir at the end will be a pleasant reminder of the time you and your mother spent together. And more importantly... It'll be a nice little token for her too!
