How do you fancy getting really messy with your mates? Like really messy? So messy that your face is a rainbow of colours and your clothes no longer match!?

Well you're in luck because it's that time of year again. The Holi Festival is on and a mist of florescence is descending across London. Throughout the capital, venues are staging the Festival of Colours. This means you can welcome the spring Indian style and throw powder paint over your friends!

The event sees groups of people turning the air into bursts of red, green, blue, purple, pink and yellow. Not one person leaves squeaky clean or without a smile.

Most Holi host venues tend to be on the pricey side. But to me, this place stands out for being affordable yet upmarket.

The South Asian restaurant stages a purpose built pod in the centre of Devonshire Square. Here below the swanky skyscrapers, you'll swap the grey London sky for something more vibrant.

When we arrived, guests were greeted by very friendly staff who explained the rules and gave a few pointers. We were then offered overalls to protect clothing. However it's best not to wear glad rags as the power can creep below your collar - I learned the hard way.

Once suited and booted, you'll be presented with a selection of powders. After this, it's time to let the games begin!

Participants are given 30 minutes to fully go wild with their paint pelting pals. Here you'll have a blast smothering friends with a mixture of colours. Players quickly become dappled with all kinds of shades and tones. The atmosphere in the "battle zone" is complemented by fast, authentic Indian music. Thus adding to the exciting mood of the evening.

Speaking of authenticity, the decor and food is also to be admired. The seating, lights and general design of this fancy diner really is top notch.

The delicious food and drink is worth sampling after. Lip licking tasty Holi cocktails and beers are available. As are snacks for those who have worked up an appetite.

100% - Hell yes - No doubt - Damn right - and so on! The event is one of the most fun things to do in London. It's just a shame that it's on for a limited period each year.

Half an hour may not seem that long, but I found it plenty enough for this activity. There is a danger that you will get powder into your eyes, but staff are on hand to treat you with eye drops.

At such reasonable prices for an amazing experience, it's hard to say no to the activity. This venue's take on the celebration cannot be recommend enough... A must visit.
