There are plenty of places to enjoy video games in London. But it seems that Clapham well and truly sits on the throne of best gaming districts.

You're probably aware of the Games Room near Clapham Junction. While this is awesome, a pixelated experience can also be relished on the other side of SW4.

Every Monday, The Stane Street Syndicate pub hosts night of computerised entertainment. Placed on various tables you'll find a selection of consoles. Many from yesteryear and appealing to retro gamers.

Consoles include:

  • Nintendo Wii (including Game Cube releases)

  • Xbox

  • Super Nintendo

  • Play Station 2 (including PS1 releases)

If you're like me, hearing the 16 bit bleeps and bloops may take you back down memory lane. Just controlling Sonic or Mario is enough to remind you of the console wars in the 90s. You and buddies can relive old battles of playing Street Fighter or the original FIFA. To get a head-start on your opponents, do a bit of research on the special moves before hand. It may be worth tricking them with such deals like "loser gets the next drink".

With so much nostalgic fun, you'll likely stay for hours.

The easy answer is yes... Gaming and alcohol - What more could you ask?

Visitors needn't be inspired by older titles from the 80s and 90s. Modern classics from the 7th and 6th console generations are on hand to bring back some happy memories.

However if you're a die hard nostalgic gamer, the PS2 has retro compilation disks. In addition the venue takes advantage of the Wii and PS2's backward comparability with their predecessor's titles.

Whatever you choose, gamers are bound to experience a good time. Especially if you take part in multi-player action with friends. After all, it's always good to blast your mates with a red shell or two on Mario Kart. I had a ball here and recommend this place!
