Review - London Cat Village

One of the best things about cats is their ability to take away the stresses of everyday life. For lovers of indoor lions, try this experiment. When you've had a tough day, put a tabby on your lap and see what happens - Chances are the problems have been eased.

So if city living is getting to you, there's the purrfect place to unwind (pun intended). Located a short walk from Old Street station is the cat cafe, London Cat Village.

The diner has a total of 17 kitty residents. All of which offer a lot of pleasure of watching them play or prowl the coffee shop. Some may even choose you as a warm lap to sleep on.

Just be careful and watch your tea. According to one waitress, some moggies enjoy a cuppa as much as you do.

Speaking of which, I found the menu to be pretty decent too. A range of hot drinks, soft drinks and snacks are available to slurp and sink your fangs into.

You may also pick up the chilled vibe from the decor and ambient music. This mellow feeling goes hand-in-hand with the scene of many sleeping kitties.

But do cats not like cat cafes?

Around the world, these quirky bistros have had their fair share of critics. I've heard complaints that range from hygiene to animal welfare.

But be rest assured, these mini tigers are very well cared for and you can see it in their behaviour. From what I saw, all residents were happy and seem content in making new friends with customers.

They even have their own areas to enjoy a bit of "me time" away from touching hands. A key sign that their happiness is a priority.

Before entering, us humans are given house rules to ensure to safety and wellbeing of the cats. These include not picking them up and to take your shoes off.

Is it worth visiting?

The cafe is enjoyable for feline fanatics and those who are indifferent. But if you're not a fan of moggies... Well, it's a no brainer.

For a spot to relax, the London Cat Village is a great place to put your feet up, unwind and swap city life for kitty life.
