So you're dreaming of the Alps? Longing for your next ski resort holiday? Well you needn't leave London to get your skiing or snowboarding fix. A venue to practice and learn your on piste techniques can be found in Fulham.

The indoor slope is set at an angle and uses a treadmill to keep the motion going. Sessions last for one hour and is guided through help of an instructor.

The piste uses various speeds and has three difficulty levels - Beginner, intermediate and advance. Meaning there's something for novices and those who are more seasoned to the sport. Bookings can be made for both children and adults.

Skis, snowboards and boots were given to me on arrival. If like me, you're new to this activity and feeling ginger about keeping your balance, there is a bar to hold on to. Naturally, there is no snow on these slopes. So on the plus side you needn't worry about the weather conditions as it is open all year around. That said, the treadmill is wet, so you may want to dress accordingly.

The arena comes complete with a viewing platform. So friends and family can watch you master your techniques. Chel-Ski also offers a fitness programme (fit-ski) which is a unique and pleasurable exercise for those wanting to get the blood pumping.

The Alpine Bar

Fun on the slopes can be thirsty work. The venue has an authentic alpine diner which is an ideal spot to relax and recoup your energy. Here a selection of alcoholic and soft and hot drinks are available. If you're feeling peckish and need to fill a whole, tasty dishes can be ordered from the menu.

I absolutely loved this place! The bar has a realistic look and feel to it. The diner is perfectly decorated to look like a log cabin. Dotted around are retro skis, sledges and classic tourist posters for European resorts. you may be forgiven for forgetting dreary old London is just outside.

Is it worth visiting?

London is neither snowy or mountainous, so this is your best option this side of the M25. My visit to Chel-Ski was fun and highly enjoyable! You will be in good hands with the friendly and experienced staff. After your session they will be on hand to give you feedback for the next time you strap on your ski boots.

A trip here is the perfect solution for beginners to learn the basics before heading experiencing the real deal at a mountain holiday. Likewise, those at an intermediate level can fine tune skills and do away with bad habits. The activity is a great way to get your muscles working and feel the burn. Well worth doing.
