Yes you read that right... Free comedy! And this night of stand-up really sets itself apart from rival venues in London.

Rather than being set in a pub or theatre, this event takes place in what (to me) looks like a former loading bay or garage. The venue is tucked away on a side street and comes complete with a bar, stage, seating and lighting. The seating area is a little tight and on busy nights, attendees at the back will have to stand. However, I feel this unconventional setting adds to the charm and aught to be experienced.

Don't be fooled into thinking cheap entry equals sub par material. The show is a proud winner is the Chortle Awards and has many regulars coming back for more. Acts are carefully selected and many have appeared at the Edinburgh Festival.

Heckling and picking on audience members is heavily discouraged. This means there is a relaxed feeling about the place. So if you fancy sitting at the front, you have nothing to fear.

There's the old phrase "there's no such thing as a free meal". So it's easy to wonder if it truly is costless. The organisers ask for a donation, but this is entirely up to you what you give. Whether it's £0 or £20, it's your call. I was assured that there's no pressure to dig in your pockets and you won't be judged for not giving. However, from my experience you will be praised if you do.

There are two major draws to the event:

  1. It costs zilch

  2. The material is 'effin funny

Those in the know tend to be very loyal to Quantum Leopard, each night tends to get fully booked quickly. And it's easy to see why. This alternative take to watching on-stage hilarity is worth a try.
