You've seen the film's, you've read the stories, now see the narrative of Christ's final days unfold before your very eyes.
A live action performance of the Passion occurs in the West End every year on Good Friday. Central London will bare scenes witnessed in first century Jerusalem through depictions if the Nazarene's final moments. Organised by Wintershall, the biblical retelling features over 100 performers made up of professional actors and volunteers. All clad with periodic costumes and props. Animal lovers will also catch sight of a donkey, horses and birds.

Over 20,000 people are expected to see the Easter narrative brought to life. I was lucky to catch the performance last year. The centre of the Square was cleared for the show. A stage was erected by Nelson's Column where Jesus was eventually be crucified. All key were performers are hooked up with microphones, meaning spectators could hear everything. It was also visible on a large TV screen which helped to ensure that everyone can see.
I found a key aspect of the theatrics was the music. Dramatic audio is played and heightens the atmosphere for each scene. Sounds of holy angelic singing to dramatic strings can be heard.

Despite the positive message, parental guidance is advised. Particularly due to graphic scenes of the crucifixion.

The event gathers Londoners of all faiths (and none). So if you're not Christian, it's still with getting out of bed for. Regardless of your beliefs, the story has had a huge impact on western civilization. So for that reason alone it's a decent option to add to your Easter itinerary.

The share production value is impressive. It can't be easy to plan and stage a show like this in a public place. The acting is highly credible, as are the minor details in clothing. Plus it's always a novelty to see Roman Soldiers back in the Big Smoke after 2,000 years.
The show lasts for a few hours and is a good start to your long weekend. If you're feeling naughty you can always take a few chocolate eggs to nibble on while you watch the action.
