Mondays... Yuk! Is there any day more grey and miserable? The weekend fun is over and now you have to deal with the hassle at work! It is the bane of the working week!

Fortunately there is a ray of light for residents in South West London. An oasis in what would normally be a dull day.

Down at the Fighting Cocks pub you can catch some side splitting action. Organised by Outside The Box, the stand-up comedy night features the UK's biggest names. Imagine going down your local and catching a performance from Micheal McIntyre or Bill Bailey. That's exactly what can happen at this fabulous boozer.

Comedians tend to use this venue as a testing ground for their materiel. So if you want to hear jokes before they're broadcasted at arena tours, you an see them here first.

Notable acts that have performed at the Fighting Cocks include:

The evenings also host up and coming artists. So this is an opportunity to get a glimpse of tomorrow's big names today.

From my experience, the entertainment varies from comedian to comedian, as does each event. Some evenings you may see ten performers, the next week you may see less. That being said, it's highly likely you'll find the show to be side-splitting.

For me, the icing on the cake is the price. In the past, I've paid less than a tenner for entry (but don't vouch for today's exact fee - I'm not certain). The drinks are also affordable. For such low prices, it's almost rude not to go.

The venue itself is reminded me of hazy days at university. Decorated like a rock bar, it took me back to being a student and watching the latest band thrash it out on stage. The room itself is very small and audiences are tightly packed together. If you're shy like me, be sure to obey the golden rule of comedy and don't sit near the front.

I found the comedy at the Fighting Cocks is a laugh a minute night out. It is the perfect remedy for any Monday.

If you feel Kingston is too far from where you live, trains are 20 minutes from Waterloo. If it's still a bit too far out, you can watch warm up gigs at the Leicester Square Theatre.

For those in easy reach, an awesome Monday awaits you. Whatever mood you're in, chances are you'll leave with a smile and have your funny bone well and truly tickled!
