The Big Smoke can be a tough place. It's lonely, rat racey, impolite, cold and housing could be better.
While it can present obstacles in maintaining possitive mental wellbeing, there are some advantages. This big matropolis is bursting with resources to keep you on the straight and narrow. Here are a few to take advantage of.

Social clubs
Loneliness is no stranger for many Londoners. Sadly this has a huge impact on our mental health. To make matters worse, overdoing it on social media can exacerbate these feelings.
So put down your smart phone and connect in the real world. There are plenty of clubs and activities in the capital where you can make new friends. The city is so varied with options, you're bound to find something that tickles your fancy. Sports clubs, dance classes, drama groups, language lessons etc - they're all here.

Therapists
Need someone to talk to? The city has plenty of qualified and registered psychotherapist. While you can try the NHS route, waiting lists are quite common. Likewise you may only get 6 months or less.
Usually therapy requires a lot more than half a year. Plus it's extremely important that you find the right fit in your therapist-client relationship. Going private may be a better option and is often worth the money.

Parks
Swap grey for green! The peace and quiet can help to improve your mood. It's well documented that a walk among nature is good for us.
Luckily London has plenty of spaces for the great out doors. From the wonder of Richmond Park to the stunning views of Greenwich Park, there's a lot to choose from. Why not throw in some exercise to boot and get those endorphins running?

Lectures
A key way to improve your mental health is to soak up some knowledge. Notably info of how your brain works and techniques to create better thinking habits. This is based on neuroplasticity. Additionally it's wise to take on board other ways to live a better and fulfilled life.
Across the capital there are venues that host talks from experts in positive mental wellbeing. With the increased popularity of self help books, it's no wonder that these events sell out quickly.

Healthy restaurants
In general, what's good for the body is also good for the mind. It's never a good idea to poison your body with junk food. Fortunately there are healthy restaurants all over town! These range from a variety of tastes, so you'll never be stuck deciding something wholesome.
